Calisse was born and raised in the Santa Ynez Valley before heading to UC Santa Cruz where she receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies. From there, Calisse spent the next three years at the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where she earned her JD in 2005. During law school, Calisse earned Appellate Advocacy Honors, Dean's List 2003-2004 and 2004-2005, was a member of the Traynor Society, and a Client Counseling Competition member. Her practice began with a large insurance defense litigation firm in Sacramento where she primarily represented insurers in physician malpractice cases, and commercial motor vehicle accidents. Thereafter, she worked for a boutique law firm specializing in similar types of litigation including construction defect cases.
