Food Pantry Driver

Job Description

Job Purpose

Safely drive Operation Liberty Hill truck. Pick up and unload food to the pantry while following Central Texas Food Bank guidelines and local health requirements under the guidance of the Food Pantry Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

● Pick up, unload, and weigh incoming deliveries (Being certain scale is locked up)

● Assist in recording and weighing deliveries on the appropriate log

● Stock frozen meat in freezer

● Maintain a clean truck inside and out (No trash should be left in the truck)

● Maintain positive relationships with the retail partners

● Record meat temperature at pickup and delivery as required by CTFB

● Pick up food drive donations as requested

● Drive truck for miscellaneous deliveries/pickups as requested (i.e., furniture, mattresses, appliances, etc.)

● Complete a pre-trip form at the beginning of each drive shift and turn in weekly; If there is an issue with the truck, advise management immediately

● Check fuel level at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure no shortage for the trip; Maintain no less than ½ tank of gas at the end of each shift

Qualifications

● All volunteers and personnel are required to complete a background check

● Must be 21 years old with a good driving record

● Experience driving a ¾ ton truck preferred

● Successful completion of OLH Driver Training/Safety Protocol upon employment

Working Conditions

● Be compassionate and able to work with clients and customers from all backgrounds

Physical Requirements

● Must be able to frequently bend, stoop and twist

● Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and infrequently lift up to 50 pounds using available dollies, carts, truck lift etc.

● Must be able to drive for extended periods of time

Hours

This position requires being promptly at work at 8:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Pick up and delivery times vary, generally it takes up to 3 hours. Additional shifts and hours may be requested.
