Conocimiento by One Step A La Vez stands as a beacon of prevention and empowerment within Fillmore, California, dedicated to mitigating the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on adolescents. Through a collaborative community approach, Conocimiento equips youth with invaluable wellness and cultural education, fostering leadership skills and fostering unity amidst small-town rivalries. By addressing the profound effects of trauma and toxic stress responses stemming from ACEs, our program strives to create a safe and nurturing environment where youth can flourish. Our comprehensive approach not only aims to improve resilience and overcome adversity but also celebrates cultural heritage, breaking the stigma of gang violence and fostering cohesion among Fillmore and Santa Paula youth.
