The Almanor Recreation and Park District (ARPD) proudly announces progress on the Public Murals project, made possible by a generous $15,000 grant from the Upstate California Creative Corps. Led by local artist and Chester High School art teacher Hillary Edwards, the initiative aims to adorn existing Connex containers at Almanor Park with vibrant murals, enriching the community space with art that reflects its essence and values.

Under Edwards' guidance, a team of high school art students and representatives from the Maidu Community are bringing these murals to life, with one facing the community garden and the other overlooking the street and ballparks. The first mural, already completed, celebrates a healthy lifestyle and the joy of community gardening, while the second mural, scheduled for completion before the holidays, will honor the rich history and culture of the community.

This initiative not only showcases the talent of local artists but also underscores the power of art to foster connection and celebrate identity. Through collaborative efforts and community engagement, the Public Murals project at Almanor Park exemplifies a commitment to creativity, inclusivity, and cultural preservation, enriching the public space for generations to come.
