Blue Ridge Job Corps

Blue Ridge Job Corps is a Vocational, and career training program funded by the Department of Labor. Blue Ridge is located In Marion Virginia w provide a safe environment for students to learn. We offer High School Diplomas for students lacking a High School Diploma. The age requirements set by the Department of Labor for Job Corps is 16-24. All the training is free of charge. This includes housing and meals. We also have an onsite laundry room free of charge and give students a bottle of detergent a month. Additionally students in our program receive a bi-weekly paycheck to help them with purchasing personal items. Graduates of our program receive a $500 transition check to help them re-enter the workforce.

Blue Ridge offers industry-recognized credentials in Medical Assistant, Medical Office Support, and Certified Nursing Assistant. We also have an LPN program in conjunction with the local school system. Students entering our program have a two-year time limit and can have an additional year if they enter an advanced training program such as going into the LPN program, or transfer to an advanced training program at another Job Corps. Students interested into going into the LPN program must first complete one of the centers three trades to be considered.

Blue Ridge is not only a vocational and educational facility. We pay special attention to the soft skills needed to be successful on the job. These skills are what set our graduates apart from most high school and college graduates. Students go through an entire Career Preparation program that includes a resume and interviewing skills. We target communication, independence, and interpersonal skills.

Every student is assigned a Career Counselor, and Mentor to ensure they do not fail. Each student is also apart of a career team that meets weekly to discuss each student progress, and set goals. Students are evaluated on 8 main career success standards every 60 days. There is a zero tolerance for violence and drugs, and a behavior system in place that assures Blue Ridge is a safe place for its students. Students are trained on the behavior management system in the outreach and admission phase.
