Welcome To

The Country Store

The Country Store

The Country Store is operated by the Custer Country Craft Guild. The Custer Country Craft Guild was organized at the 4-H building, in Broken Bow, NE in 1966 and was sponsored by the Custer County Home Extension Club Council until 2002 when the Council disbanded. It was established to give the homemaker and crafter an outlet for her hand-crafted items (before eBay and Craig's list) and add to the family income.

The Country Store is a seasonal operation. We are only open during November and December for your holiday shopping and have a craft fair one day in the Spring and Christmas in July.

We, as members and consignors, make articles and continue using the skills and crafts passed down through the generations. So you will find crocheted doilies, jewelry, seasonal gift items, hot pads (crocheted and denim), dishcloths, and aprons plus many baby gifts! You can find all colors of afghans, baby quilts, and receiving blankets.

Because we can't (or don't) mass produce, each item is unique. Many of the one-of-a-kind items utilize recycle/re-purpose materials, such as denim jeans. Members are willing to create or recreate additional items found in the store. Just ask any member on duty during store hours.

Two days each week we have a bake sale, usually Thursday and Friday. During the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas, the bake sale will be Tuesday and Wednesday to accommodate the holiday baking. Baked items include sweetbreads, yeast bread, cookies, pies, cinnamon rolls, candy, and cakes. We do take orders and can help you with your baking. Just let us know!
