During the 2016/2017 budget discussion in May and June 2016, the city was faced with the decision to increase power rates. During this time, Salem City Power was going through a rate study through UMPA (Utah Municipal Power Association). The council decided to hold off on the rate increase until the study was completed (June 2016) and they had time to review it. During the August 24th City Council Meeting, the Salem City Council approved a Power Rate Increase for all users. This will go into effect with your August 2016 usage (the bill you will get in the first part of October 2016).
