Charity

As the only philanthropic organization that exists solely within the boundaries of Indiana, Tri Kappa supports a variety of special projects promoting charity, culture, and education. Each year, local chapters and the state organization give over $1.5 million to its endeavors of charity, culture, and education. Since 1901, Tri Kappa members have donated untold hours and millions of dollars to projects in the state of Indiana.

Tri Kappa's history is rich with charitable services and deeds. From its very beginning in 1901, members have given of themselves to those in need. Vintage issues of our sorority's magazine, Cross Keys, are full of chapter letters documenting charitable contributions, both monetary and service, to Indiana communities.

Riley Hospital has long been one of Tri Kappa's state projects. The Riley Hospital Association was established in 1921 and Tri Kappa became involved the very next year. In 1924, we donated $12,000 to the fund, thus establishing the Tri Kappa Cubicle. This was a ward of sixteen beds for medical patients between the ages of sixteen months and sixteen years.

The James Whitcomb Riley Hospital at Indiana University Health For Children has received contributions of over $1 million and thousands of Riley dolls and blankets since the hospital opened in 1922. Tri Kappa also supports the Ronald McDonald House. Donations are made annually to:
