The Town is a Municipal Corporation (incorporated in 1908) and a Political Subdivision of the State of Colorado. The Town of Parachute became a Home Rule Municipality on May 18, 2007, after the approval of the Charter by the voters at a Special Election held on May 1, 2007.

Town Council

The Town of Parachute Town Council is comprised of seven members. Of those seven members, six are at-large Council Members, and one position for the Town mayor. Each term is for 4 years. The Town Council is comprised of part-time elected officials, meaning that they have jobs in addition to their responsibilities as Council Members.

Town Council Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Regular meetings begin at 6:30 pm

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month when needed. The Commission consists of four (7) commission members which include the Mayor, and two other Town Council members run by the chairman and vice chairman.
