The sooner you discover a bed bug infestation, the better your odds are of getting rid of them quickly and for good.

Bed bugs are typically nocturnal creatures, and are rarely seen out in the open. They prefer tight spaces and will usually hide in areas like the creases in your mattress, the box spring, nightstands, headboards and baseboards. While these areas are a good place to start, several other areas can be heavily infested as well.

These pests can follow you into different rooms in your home. They are able to detect the presence of people during sleep, so finding them in multiple rooms in the house is common.

Bed bugs can travel through your walls, and commonly spread in condominiums and apartment buildings with ease. Another common area where we see bed bugs is in electrical sockets & light switches, making adjacent rooms extremely susceptible to infestation.

While bed bugs are notorious for biting and feeding on blood, the good news is that they are not known to carry or transmit diseases.

Treatments of the past would usually require that you throw out your mattress and box spring. However, there are new treatments today that can save you that expense and hassle.

Some common signs of infestation to look out for:

Blood spots on your sheets

Bed bug skin castings

Droppings (frass) that resemble pepper on mattresses and other items
